Time: 2007 to 2011, completed construction
Scope: Design Development
After Hanoi and Hochiminh City, the demand of new terminal airport to replace the very old one at the third big city of Vietnam, Danang, is very urgent.
The concept design is proposed by Naco (Netherland Airport Consultant). The new terminal handles both domestic and international flights before another terminal is built in 2015. The terminal building is developed in a linear direction. Future extensions can be realized by connecting and extension of all levels without major rearrangements inside the terminal, without sacrificing existing terminal facilities and the original design intent.
As the design in tropical region, the building spaces are approached with combination of indoor gardens, natural light roof system, façade with opening control for natural ventilation, large canopy system, … to bring comfort for passengers and energy efficiency for terminal.
